BEZVision™ for Databases provides a business-oriented view of database resource utilization, performance, and service levels from the past into the future. Using BEZVision, IT managers can proactively manage database performance so problems can be avoided, resource planning can be done more cost-effectively, and IT can better serve as an enabler of business initiatives.
Step 1: Installing BEZVision for Databases
BEZVision for Databases is a Java Enterprise Application designed for the Windows and Linux environments on either 32 or 64 bit architectures. The BEZVision Performance Repository can reside in any Oracle or PostgreSQL database. If you don't already have a license, you can request one here. Then use this guide to install the software.

Step 2: Collecting Measurement Data
BEZVision automatically discovers the databases you want to monitor. Point BEZVision to the databases you are interested in and it handles the rest. BEZVision's ongoing, agentless data collection creates hourly "profiles" showing the resource utilization of your data warehouse.

Step 3: Defining Workloads
BEZVision provides the added benefit of showing resource utilization and consumption broken out by database "workload". BEZVision workloads aggregate database usage based on who or what is using your database, so you can see which resources are consumed by, for example, a particular set of users or an application. Performance metrics are also provided along with each workload's resource consumption and utilization.

Step 4: Viewing the Results
BEZVision for Databases has a rich user interface for analyzing the performance characteristics of your data warehouse. Over 60 performance metrics are available for drilldown, reporting and analysis, including historical trends, SQL performance and database utilization.

Step 5: Predicting the Future
The real power of the BEZ solution is the ability to predict the performance and service levels of your database based on growth forecasts. BEZVision predictive capabilities allow you to create a wide range of "What if" scenarios to see the performance impact of hardware and database changes compared with your service level and performance objectives.
