Change Impact Analysis: Guaging the Effects of Proposed Actions
BEZVision supports the inclusion of different types of change events into a prediction scenario. The BEZVision prediction engine will then derive the expected impact on response time, throughput and resource utilization as a result of changes to database software parameters, including:
- RAC implementation and expansion
- Index Creation
- Materialized View Creation
- Memory Pool Adjustments
or changes to application software parameters, such as:
- Thread Pools
- Heap Size
- Connection Pools
Database and SQL design recommendations - BEZVision helps you determine if there are database design flaws or inefficient code that should be corrected. You can select New Index or New Materialized View recommendations to be included in a BEZVision prediction. Advice is generated from two sources: direct BEZ analysis or integration with Oracle10g’s SQL Access advisor. CPU and I/O savings per workload are derived for each recommendation.
Hardware configuration optimization - BEZVision can help you evaluate hardware changes that can be implemented to alleviate poor performance. You can specify changes to any component of the physical hardware configuration that makes up the backend "data access" tier or the middleware "application server" tier:
- Server Configuration
- Interconnect Bandwidth
- Storage Array Configuration
- Physical Disk Properties
BEZVision also offers In-Box capacity optimization recommendations that are provided for each prediction where at least one performance objective will be violated. Support for server and workload consolidation or elimination scenarios is also a standard feature.
