BEZ Systems Announces Proactive Performance Management Platform
PPM solutions allow IT services to be aligned with business needs
BOSTON, September 12, 2005 - BEZ Systems today announced the Proactive Performance Management (PPM) platform for measuring and managing the delivery of IT services to business users. The PPM platform will form the core of a family of products under the name BEZProphet™ which measure and manage critical segments of application service delivery.
The number one challenge of IT management is to deliver cost effective, high performing application services to the business. IT typically measures the technology it governs, but the delivery of IT services to the business is a critical flow which has not been, until now, well understood or managed. The PPM platform was specifically designed to allow IT management to measure and manage service delivery to specific lines-of-business. PPM provides IT management with the necessary information to align their goals with those of the business and to quickly adjust those goals as business requirements evolve and change.
The PPM platform will provide a consistent set of features to the BEZProphet product family, including: hands free ‘set-and-forget’ operation, service-oriented data gathering, line of business performance foot printing, BEZ exclusive profiling and forecasting, What-if analyses, a personalized Service Performance Dashboard, and flexible exception alerting.

At the core of the PPM platform is a profiling and prediction engine that gathers performance data from the environment and continuously builds and calibrates individual service delivery profiles by user-defined lines-of-business. These comprehensive profiles measure current vs. planned service delivery and can be manipulated in real time to provide a near term forward-looking views of possible service breaches that helps IT management understand and manage change by anticipating performance problems before they become major performance crises.

The BEZ PPM platform was designed to be an extension to existing environments. It includes specifications for a scalable, flexible and extensible services-oriented architecture using open software standards with web-based UI, ease of installation and use. The service oriented design allows the PPM platform to cooperate with existing data sources and technologies from other vendors. Future product offerings from BEZ will embed key elements of the PPM platform to focus on the multiple service segments within application delivery, for example, in data delivery and processing delivery.

BEZ’s initial PPM product, BEZProphet for Oracle, will focus on the Oracle database environment and the delivery of data as a service. BEZProphet for Oracle is being announced separately today. Subsequent PPM product implementations will focus on application services.
