BEZ Systems Announces Immediate Availability of BEZProphet Release 1.8
Memory analysis, integration with PeopleSoft are hallmarks of latest release
Boston, MA USA April 18, 2006 BEZ Systems, an innovator in the emerging market for Proactive Performance Management solutions, today announced the immediate availability of a new release of BEZProphet for Oracle®. BEZProphet R1.8 extends its reach of Oracle integration to include support for memory pool analysis. BEZProphet customers are now able to extract detailed memory usage information from Oracle versions 9i and 10g. This powerful new analysis and predictive feature complements the already available analysis and predictive features for CPU and I/O.
According to Brian Doyle, BEZ VP of Product Services, Were very excited about this new release. He noted that, BEZProphet users can now propose changes to cache sizes, shared pool size and Program Global Area (PGA) target size for prediction analysis. This rounds out our coverage to include all of the major system components (CPU, I/O, and memory) with detailed analysis and the ability to predict the effects of changes in all major database areas.
BEZProphet R1.8 also expands coverage for popular platforms. BEZProphet now takes advantage of the user information provided by PeopleSoft®. The enhanced identification data increases BEZProphets workload definition flexibility and provides more granular drilldown analysis for database activity profiling.
BEZProphets Prediction Engine uses current and historic performance data to understand service levels, create performance profiles that represent the unique performance footprint of each line of business (workload), predict future service levels and notify database managers and their staff of potential service breaches in the near and longterm future. BEZProphet R1.8 also extends the integration of Capacity Optimization Advice that suggests appropriate courses of action for avoiding shortfalls in service delivery when a potential performance or capacity breach is detected. The new Memory Advice integration enhances the existing integration with Oracle advice modules. For Oracle 10g customers, BEZProphet already integrates with the SQL Access Advisor to provide Index and Materialized Views advice to users and drives what-if prediction analysis on the advice results.
Randy Arseneau, VP of Product Marketing noted, We are fully aware of how busy our customers are so we build automated features wherever and whenever we can. We push the needed information to our customers rather than making them search for it. In BEZProphet R1.8, customers are automatically provided with detailed advice to increase the number or speed of CPUs, increase the number of disks, increase the cache in disk subsystems, shared pool size and PGA target size as needed, thereby providing ample lead time to acquire new capacity before a major performance crisis negatively impacts overall system performance. According to Arseneau, In this release, weve included a 1 Click Prediction feature that preloads reasonable defaults and allows customers to do a quick predictive analysis of any major area with a single mouse click. Weve also included a 1 Click Prediction Summary that provides users with a richly formatted Microsoft Word document, distributed via email, containing basic prediction properties, constituent workloads, workload forecast metrics, planning scenario details, graphical results, and a contention point analysis matrix. BEZProphet for Oracle helps database managers align service delivery with business requirements. It empowers DBAs to manage change, set realistic expectations, justify corrective actions and ensure the delivery of consistent, uninterrupted data service to the business at the lowest cost.
